I have tried quite a few hand creams recently as due to the horrible cold weather my hands have been really dry (as dry as the Sahara desert ). So I thought I would share my thoughts on each of them.
No. 1- Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Concentrated Cream for hands, elbow, knees and feet. It claims to soften and relieve soft, dry skin for 24 hours. I love the smell of this (cocoa butter) but it does not hydrate my hands for longer than an hour or two. It absorbs quite fast and has a thick consistency but I probably won't purchase the full size. It is £1.99 for 60ml which I think is quite a good price because this product is not amazing but it works.
No.2 - Vaseline Healthy Hands and Stronger Nails Hand Cream is what I have been using forever (or almost). This is a really good hand cream and always go back to it when others do not work well enough. It has a slight spell which is quite nice and clean (great description, I know!). Not sure about the stronger nails claim as its hard to tell. This absorb as fast as the Palmer's one but is thinner so it is easy to squirt out too much. This is £5.39 for the 200ml bottle which I have, it is definitely worth the money and is usually on sale.
No.3 - Neutrogena Unscented Norwegian Formula Concentrated Hand cream. It has no scent, and is amazing but it is really thick and makes my hands very greasy, which is find if used as a treatment before bed when you won't be touching anything. Definitely not a hand bag hand cream. This costs £3.69 for 50ml which is quite expensive but is definitely worth it for when my hands are super dry.
No.4 - Soap and glory Hand Dream Super Intensive Hand Cream. This isn't the distinctive soap and glory smell, it is slightly fruitier. It is very fast absorbing and works well but have to top it up every so often. It contains AHAs which makes your skin more sensitive to the sun, so I would recommend just using this like the Neutrogena before bed, unless you want to put sun cream on your hands constantly. This costs £7.00 for the 100ml tube, less than Neutrogena would be if it was 100ml, it is also half the size of the Vaseline and still more expensive but is not as good so not sure it is worth it.
Overall I think the Vaseline is my favourite as it absorbs fast and does not leave my hands greasy but still moisturises them. And I can use it through out the day. However if my hands are very very very very very dry I would use the Neutrogena one to sort them out.
I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful.
Thank you for reading.
Hasta Luego
